Labor Day, 2006: Return of the Wheelmen
Patrick Blair, Adam Driscoll, Jesse Stump.
If you scroll down to Labor Day 2005, you'll see these three in different outfits.
Seems that last year's run was just a warm-up.
This year they rode to Ocean City from Seattle, Washington!
They are raising money for diabetes research and for schools in Kenya.
Here's an article that tells more.
The next night, we have Shawn MacIntosh preparing to give Patrick some sort of award.
And here it is!
Here's one of the bikes:
That's a fixie! Here's a closeup of the rear hub:
No derailleur, no gearshifting, no freewheeling! This trip was even more amazing than it seemed at first. Way to go, Jesse, Adam, and Patrick!
August 5, 2006: Hawaiian Night!
Aloha!
Doesn't Gerry look like the King of a tropical isle?
What's in that glass?
And here
are the happy islanders!
A little earlier, Erin and her father, Bob
dancing together as if they had known each other forever.
Actually, they have!
And later,
Katie Millionie discovered something new to do with a lei.
After all these years of lei-ing around the shanty, something new. About time.
The lights have been turned up, the chairs are on the tables, the sweeper has gone home,

but for some people the party is never over.
And there are a few others

who also don't get the message.
Now for a momentary detour into wholesomeness:
Olivia Kazoo makes an appearance in a major league ballpark.
Screencap from a slideshow on the O's site that seems to have gone away.
Click it, it's even better bigger.
All right, that's enough of that.
This one's from a little earlier in the summer.
No idea. Dinosaurs and kittycats living together.
Another from the same week.
There's just no telling where those things will end up.

These lads (that's Patrick on the left) bicycled to Ocean City from Baltimore on Labor Day weekend,
as part of the Tour de Cure effort to end diabetes.

A rare shot of Jim Hartley having fun.
Mad props to Stacy from Phoenix, who persuaded him to dance.

Joe Rodio says he's not the best plectrum banjo player in the world.
Well, that's what he says. I'm not so sure.

A couple of banjo players with a couple of pints.
Ban-Joe and Gerry will have the world set to rights in no time.
